We continue our series introducing the people behind Digirail. Now, it is the turn of Anu Ylä-Pietilä, Enterprise Architect.
How long have you worked on the project? How did you get involved in Digirail?
I started working on the project in October 2021. I have extensive experience in architecture tasks, so I was asked to join Digirail at the start of the development and verification phase. Over the years, I have worked as an enterprise architect in a government agency, the Ministry of Finance, and various consulting assignments. I already had some knowledge of the rail sector, but Digirail has allowed me to really immerse myself in the world of rail.
Tell us more about your job.
My most important task so far has been to lead the scenario team and contribute to it as a member. I am currently a project engineer on the ToTo project (implementation plan for the implementation phase). My work includes drawing up the 10-year roadmap for the implementation phase and contributing my expertise as an enterprise architect to the architecture group, which creates descriptions for the implementation phase.
What do you find most interesting about the project?
The Digirail project is more than just a technical change: it will lead to very many other changes in the rail sector. We could even describe it as a cultural transformation. It feels really meaningful to be involved in planning and implementing a project that will lead to such major change. Another interesting thing about the project is the opportunity to get to know other top professionals from Finland and beyond.
What do you do in your free time?
I am really into horses. I started horse riding regularly seven years ago. Since then, I have also learned about horse training, ground working, and the mechanics of horses’ movement. I also have a gun dog at home who makes sure I get plenty of exercise every day.
